Ok y'all - I'm spilling the tea. This particular claim is a pet peeve of mine and I really want to set the record straight. The detoxification myth alleges that through the soft tissue manipulation during massage, toxins are squeezed from the muscles and released into the bloodstream. Nope, there is no scientific evidence to support this notion. No judgment though, who could blame you for believing all the hype out there? But that's what it is - hype.

Massage has a ton of legitimate health benefits, both physically and mentally. Massage can lower stress, tension, heart rate, blood pressure, relieve muscle soreness and joint pain. Plus, it boosts those feel-good endorphins, improves blood circulation, and gives your immune system a little boost.

Your body does not need a detox program. It is already a pro at detoxifying itself. The liver is our detoxification machine. It's made to do this. Your liver is like a superhero detox system that works round the clock to keep you healthy. It's really good at getting rid of all the stuff we come into contact with daily, like what we eat, drink, and even breathe.
